Magazine Monday......

I love to curl up with a cup of tea, a new magazine, or a pile of old favourites.

I am the proud owner of 15 years worth of House and Garden and Homes and Garden magazines which are stacked under my desk in my study......

    1. Hi Donna,
No, I think that any sane person would use the magazines as they are intended - a bit of reference and hopefully a lot of enjoyment, then re-cycle. It's a bit bonkers to have kept so many for so long!
And of course, month after month they keep coming!!

  2. I thought that I was bad with 3 years;) You could open up a resource library for designers!!! I must admit though, it is fun to go back and see older interpretations of style, pattern and colour....and no better way to do it than curled up, fire blazing, coffee (wine?!)...

    1. Hi Brenda,
I don't quite know how I started hoarding so many, but I guess I do love magazines and just couldn't bear to throw any away. It is great though to look back through old copies.
The strange thing is , I'm drawn to the same articles now as when the mags were current.
Hope you have a lovely day.

  3. I am ashamed to say that I am exactly the same. Vogue since I was 14 - many of them residing in my parents house. House & Garden and Homes & Garden for about 12 years - I'm now into Veranda and The English Home, with a bit of Country Living, Country Homes and Interiors and Elle Deco(US version) thrown in - and that's just the interiors mags. I fear that I will one day end up like the people in the recent documentary about 'Hoarders'. Hello...my name is Paula and I am a magazine addict...!

  4. Liz - We need to chat! Not about the red tulips, no....about our mags, darling!! I, too, have stashes. Mine going back to the late 90's. All of us: you, Paula, me....help us, pleeez! BTW, my current favorite is BBC Gardens Illustrated.

  5. Paula and Loi,
    This is too funny......
Im sure there must be a convention somewhere for Magazine Collectors Anonymous !!
To make matters worse, said mags have moved house with me three times!!!
I wonder why we are drawn to magazines? It just needs a lovely picture on the front and I'm sold!!
Hope you both have a lovely day- I've got June edition's House and Garden waiting for me!!

  6. My magazines were getting out of hand years ago - I had stacks everywhere - although not lovely ones like in your images! Problem was I could never find an article or picture when I went to look for it. So I started cutting bits out and putting them 'The Folder'! Now I have Folders everywhere and I still can't find anything! Thank God for Pinterest!! Like you though, I still love curling up with my mag, it just feels like a treat!!

  7. Hi Sharon,
I always think that scrap books are a great idea. But then I start looking through the magazines and get totally distracted!
I haven't really got into Pinterest yet apart from drooling at other peoples. As usual, I'm late to the party!
Hope you have a lovely day.

  8. Thank you for your kind words and welcome as follower of my blog. We had a great time in London, unfortunately it was very cold for the time of year. There will follow more posts about London, I hope you also will enjoy!

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Glad you liked the 50s engagement shoot! They had a lot of fun with it.

I must admit to recently throwing out a ridiculous amount of fashion, home, & weddings mags when I moved house. I couldn't believe how many I had! Although not quite 15 yrs worth... haha!

  10. I so understand. I have years of Veranda, all of my old Southern Accents and mounds of others. So hard to part with them. Mine tend to be under beds...love how they are displayed in these images. Thrilled to find and follow your beautiful blog!

  11. I'm also an incurable magazine addict! I now only allow myself to keep one year's worth after which I discard them after tearing out tons of pics, recipes etc. So now I have piles of clippings to deal with. Is there no way out!! Have just read your blog back to the beginning and I can tell I'm going to enjoy following you. Love London, favourite city after Paris. Have a great weekend x Sharon
