We went to see the wonderful 'Porgy and Bess' at the open air theatre in Regents Park in London.

An early supper al fresco and the anticipation of one of the Gershwins' finest shows.

All went well until the first number, 'Summertime', when the heavens opened and the stage manager announced that the performance would have to be suspended until the rain passed. Oh the irony!

Rainy days and Sundays......

......to completely mis-quote The Carpenters circa 1971.

I very rarely write and publish my posts on the same day - for one thing it takes me ages to get my act together.  Not because I'm perfecting my art, but because I'm just very slow! 

But this was the sky that we woke to this morning followed by torrential rain and winds - meaning that we had a different day to the one we had planned. So I thought I'd get down in pictures how our day panned out......

We didn't go for the run that usually starts our Sunday......

Bad Bunny......

I am usually pretty ambivalent to the (many) rabbits in our garden......

But returning from holiday I found that they are systematically stripping the young leaves and buds from the new roses planted just before I went away.

This is what they should have looked like......

Harkness rose - Keros, as seen at Chelsea Flower show.

But here they are surrounded by wire mesh covers - as suggested by the nice man in the garden centre......

Although, his other idea was to buy a pellet gun -so perhaps not such a nice man after all!

I'd be grateful if anyone has any handy tips or advice on how to keep my furry friends off my patch.

After two years at College in Boston, number 1 Snowdrop is taking up a 6 month work placement in California.  Los Angeles and San Francisco to be precise.

I for one will miss the magnificent houses along Commonwealth Ave with their chi-chi- front gardens......

And of course Beacon Hill, where if I was going to live anywhere else it would be here......

More by luck than design, we left Los Angeles at 10.30 in the evening, on the fourth of July, and witnessed the best firework display in town.  Seen from the sky, quite stunning......

I fully intended to blog coast to coast as we travelled from Boston to Los Angeles.  But an un co-operative i pad and an un reliable wifi connection made my efforts quite frustratingly impossible!
