Porgy and Bess......

We went to see the wonderful 'Porgy and Bess' at the open air theatre in Regents Park in London.

An early supper al fresco and the anticipation of one of the Gershwins' finest shows.

All went well until the first number, 'Summertime', when the heavens opened and the stage manager announced that the performance would have to be suspended until the rain passed. Oh the irony!

Porgy and Bess......Porgy and Bess......the words just trip off the tongue.

Here are more random combinations that are just meant to be together......

  1. Gin & Tonic, Laurel & Hardy, Bread & Butter, Pooh & Piglet.......the possibilities are endless! I do love open air theatre too, you can pretend that you are living a Mediterranean dream, that is, until the heavens open! It sounds like you had a lovely evening despite the rain and you have inspired me to get my name onto the Regents Park Open Air Theatre list for next year - thank you. Imogen xx

  5. Hi Liz, we were in London for a few days mid-month and had a few brief but dramatic showers from otherwise clear skies. I will have to look out for this theater series if we are back next year. (My sister and her family live near Regent's Park in Maida Vale.) I hope you have had a great summer. It is already feeling like fall here with very cool temps.
    xo,
