Diptyque - aholic......

...... surely a word.

As you may know, I love Diptyque candles.  At this time of the year exchanging Pomander and Feu de Bois for Figeur and Jasmine.

As a consequence I have a cupboard full of empty glass jars. I use mine as holders for votive candles, or planted up with tiny plants or as vases for Lily of the Valley for a summer dinner party.

Other clever folk are way more imaginative with their empty Diptyque jars......

The great thing about design as simple as Diptyque's, is that it is a versatile foil to many colours and shapes, and can be used again and again. Even on their own they make a great image.
This is my kind of re-cycling!

How do you re-use yours?

Hope you have a lovely week,
Liz x

  8. Well I have to say I have never owned a Diptyque candle or even smelt one, but for years I have had a picture of one pinned to my notice board. I think I will need to correct that, don't you? Which is your favourite? Have a lovely Sunday, love Linda xx

  9. Hello, dear Liz; you know, it's funny about Dytique candles but they seem to be much better known abroad than in France. My friend was recently offered two of them by people who came to dinner at her place. She thanked them very politely; then we went shopping in Deauville and she discovered their prices. She was so confused that she said : "Oh my God, if only I'd known, I wouldn't have thanked them so casually !".

  10. My love affair with Diptyque started when I worked in Paris. We would buy so many candles from the St Germain boutique that we would regularly be given freebies.
How I love the scent of the shop cushion they would use to knock the wax out of the glasses in order for you to smell the scent from the empty glass, as it had acquired a unique blend of all their fragrances.
I was so pleased when they released '34' which evokes this very combined, bohemian scent which we now use to scent the weekend car. I love it!

  11. Now I need to buy a few Diptyque candles so I can do some cute upcycling like this!-- kind of like drinking more wine to do something clever with the corks. :)
It's so fun to have you blogging again. I love your posts-- so relaxing.

  12. Diptique candles are wonderful, aren't they ? There's nothing nicer than filling a room with their fragrance. I re-use the glasses as votives and for flowers, especially tiny rosebuds. It's always good to get as much as you can from a purchase !!
….. and, many thanks for your lovely comment today. XXXX
